Grayscale proposes a Zcash ETF with a 2.5% annual fee
The filing also outlines an authorized-participant arbitrage mechanism and cites historical ZCSH tracking gaps of up to a 240% premium and a 55% discount to NAV.
Grayscale has filed an amendment for a proposed Zcash exchange-traded fund that would charge a 2.5% annual fee, with shares expected to trade on NYSE Arca under the ticker ZCSH if the SEC process progresses.
According to CryptoSlate, the structure is designed to address ZCSH’s long-running price-tracking problem by relying on authorized participants to create or redeem 10,000-share baskets when the ETF’s market price diverges from the net asset value of the ZEC held in the fund.
The filing describes large historical gaps, including a maximum 240% premium and a maximum 55% discount to net asset value from Oct. 18, 2021 through June 30, 2026, with the fund closing below NAV on 700 days.
Grayscale also flags investor economics and governance concerns, noting that under one dated ownership calculation a DCG affiliate could receive about 34% of the enlarged fund, potentially giving Digital Currency Group International Investments Ltd. influence over limited shareholder votes and raising possible conflicts; CryptoSlate adds that the registration remains preliminary and the SEC has not yet approved or disapproved it.
