Nvidia server prices rise more than 15% for AI systems
The increases are tied to higher memory costs and are set to apply to servers shipped early next year, affecting AI platforms that include Vera Rubin and Grace Blackwell chips.
Nvidia customers have been notified that server prices for systems built with its artificial intelligence chips will rise by more than 15 percent in many cases, according to people familiar with the communications described by SCMP Economy.
The price hikes are expected to take effect for systems shipped early next year and will vary based on Nvidia chip generation and memory configurations. They will impact servers including those built around the Vera Rubin and Grace Blackwell chips.
The move reflects soaring costs for DRAM, the memory used alongside Nvidia accelerator processors that underpin computers running AI software. Memory suppliers with leverage in the market include Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, and Micron Technology, SCMP Economy added.
Server makers working under contract for major data center operators, including Microsoft, Alphabet’s Google, and Oracle, have recently told their customers about the forthcoming increases, while Nvidia did not respond to requests for comment, SCMP Economy said.
