Aviva adds AI motion analysis to flag workplace musculoskeletal risks
Aviva said pilots using the 3MotionAi platform found some activities were higher risk than conventional assessments indicated.
Aviva is introducing AI-powered motion analysis to help commercial clients identify workplace injury risks, partnering with health, safety and ergonomics specialist Cardinus Risk Management to deploy its 3MotionAi technology. The platform analyzes workplace video footage for posture, movement, repetition, force and duration to detect musculoskeletal risks that conventional assessments may miss. Aviva said the offering, originally developed for sports performance, is now being used to evaluate how employees perform physical tasks to guide where interventions may be needed.
According to the UK’s Health and Safety Executive, 511,000 workers experienced work-related musculoskeletal disorders in 2024/25, leading to 7.1 million lost working days. Aviva said its pilots identified some activities as higher risk despite previously being considered low risk.
Aviva also said the solution will be provided through its Risk Management Solutions consultants, and that the offering includes five products: Directors & Officers, Fund Directors & Officers Liability, Investment Management Insurance, Professional Indemnity, and Crime cover. AXIS will underwrite its share of the risks through AXIS Energy Transition Syndicate 2050.
