Bitcoin holds above $77,100 as XRP leads 46% weekly rally
Bitcoin gained more than 21% on the week while traders positioned ahead of Fed Chair Kevin Warsh’s Jackson Hole speech for rate signals.
CoinDesk reports bitcoin held above $77,100 after rising more than 21% over the week, as traders looked to signals on interest rates ahead of Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh’s Jackson Hole speech.
The outlet says XRP led the broader move, gaining more than 46% over the same stretch to just under $1.50, while ether, dogecoin, Solana, and Hyperliquid’s HYPE posted double-digit weekly advances.
CoinDesk also links crypto performance to rate expectations, noting that lower rates can make borrowing cheaper and spur risk-taking toward assets including crypto, while higher rates tend to do the opposite.
Outside crypto, CoinDesk reports Asian equities fell, with Samsung sliding 8.7% in Seoul after disappointment about its shareholder return plan, and Alibaba dropping 9.6% in Hong Kong after announcing a share sale to raise HK$80 billion, about $10.2 billion.
