Judge narrows claims in Roberts lawsuit against eXp and CEO
The trial is set for Oct. 19, after the court dismissed TVPRA claims against eXp World Holdings and removed several claims against CEO Glenn Sanford.
HousingWire reports that a federal judge dismissed Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act claims against eXp World Holdings and trimmed multiple claims against CEO Glenn Sanford in the Roberts sex trafficking and assault lawsuit.
According to the ruling, eXp World Holdings and Sanford were not held liable for claims tied to the alleged actions of former agents Michael Bjorkman and David Golden, and the court found plaintiffs lacked enough evidence that eXp Realty’s patent company knew about or knowingly benefited from those alleged actions.
The judge said evidence was sufficient to create a jury question on Sanford’s alleged participation in Roberts’ claims that he intervened to ensure Bjorkman’s share in eXp’s Revenue Share Plan vested despite the allegations.
The remaining TVPRA and other vicarious liability and negligent hiring, supervision, and retention claims still target Sanford and eXp Realty, and the trial is now scheduled for Oct. 19 following a Sept. 18 conference.
