Morehouse and Atrium Health advance $700M teaching hospital project
The planned hospital would open with about 50 beds and is designed to expand beyond 700 beds over time as community needs grow.
Morehouse School of Medicine and Atrium Health are moving forward with plans for a new teaching hospital at 675 Metropolitan Parkway SW, a project aimed at delivering primary, urgent, and specialty care across Central and South Fulton County, according to ConnectCRE.
Atrium Health is committing more than $700 million in capital and clinical investment. The facility is intended to bring a Level III trauma center closer to where people live, supported by an acute care hospital and a broader network that includes primary care practices, combined primary and urgent care locations, specialty services, and both virtual and community based care.
Project plans call for the hospital to open with about 50 beds, with the ability to expand to over 700 beds over time as community needs grow. The design includes 24/7 emergency services and Level III trauma care, obstetrics and a neonatal intensive care unit, adult critical care, advanced imaging, cardiac catheterization, interventional radiology, and endoscopy.
Additional services are also planned through a healthplex, which would offer amenities such as imaging, infusion, endoscopy, and emergency care.
