Zillow and Redfin settle FTC antitrust case over $100 million syndication

The resolution keeps their listings syndication in place and extends the rental partnership through at least 2030.

Zillow and Redfin reached a last minute resolution with the FTC and attorneys general from five states over antitrust claims tied to their $100 million multifamily rental syndication deal executed in early 2025, HousingWire reported.

Under the agreement, listings syndication will continue, and both companies will roll out standalone multifamily advertising products, with Zillow targeting a 2027 launch.

Zillow said the partnership has boosted multifamily inventory on both platforms since launch, including nearly quadrupling multifamily listings on Redfin’s sites and growing multifamily properties on Zillow’s by nearly 40%.

Redfin said the resolution is a significant win and added that it allows the company to maintain its rental partnership with Zillow through at least 2030 while building a standalone rentals business. The companies also faced earlier setbacks when a federal judge denied their motion to dismiss and denied the FTC’s request for partial summary judgment.
