Mare Island Maritime Campus lists for piecemeal leasing or partnerships

The 350-acre Vallejo site has more than 2 million square feet of vacant space and over 30 megawatts of power capacity.

Mare Island Maritime Campus in Vallejo, a 350-acre former shipbuilding site, has more than 2 million square feet of vacant space and is being marketed by JLL on behalf of The Nimitz Group, the owner. According to Bisnow, the seller will consider multiple paths including transactions, piecemeal leasing, or strategic partnerships. The campus includes maritime infrastructure such as four dry docks, three shipways, a mile of ship berthing, and deepwater channel access. The North Bay campus, established in 1854 as the first permanent naval base on the West Coast, also has more than 30 megawatts of power capacity. Bisnow said the marketing effort is engaging commercial and naval shipbuilders, defense contractors, maritime operators, and institutional investors, following the site’s closure in 1996. The update also notes other recent Bay Area deals, including Fabrinet’s purchase of a Santa Clara R&D campus for $76.9 million, Sack Capital Partners’ $35.8 million acquisition of a 122-unit Fremont apartment complex, and Bell Partners’ $130 million purchase of a 195-unit complex in South San Francisco.
