Marvell to expand Google-Alphabet share purchase under chip partnership
The expanded agreement will cover Marvell products tied to Google’s tensor processing unit ecosystem, including AI inference accelerators and storage and network interface controllers.
Marvell Technology is seeing renewed investor interest after disclosing an expanded relationship with Alphabet, Google’s parent, that would let Google buy $12.20 billion worth of shares in the chipmaker, according to a Yahoo Finance write-up on the deal.
The expanded partnership builds on an earlier agreement between the companies for custom chips, and Marvell said in a regulatory filing that the additional scope covers products tied to the tensor processing unit ecosystem, including AI inference accelerators and storage and network interface controllers.
Marvell, headquartered in Santa Clara, California, designs custom silicon and data center infrastructure. Its offerings include ASICs, high-speed networking and switching chips, and interconnect and optical solutions used to move data across cloud platforms and other network environments.
The article also notes that Marvell has reported record revenue for its first quarter of fiscal 2027, with revenue rising 28% year over year to $2.42 billion for the quarter ended May 2. It adds that the stock has gained sharply over the past 52 weeks, though it is down from its June high.
