Trump says US Navy cleared Strait of Hormuz mines
The US President said Iran was warned against any new mine-laying, with any new ships or boats facing immediate destruction.
US President Donald Trump said the US Navy has cleared mines from the Strait of Hormuz, removing a supply risk that had kept oil markets on edge. According to Trump, he was informed that all mines had been removed or detonated from the waterway’s international waters.
Trump said Iran has been warned that any new mine-laying would be met with force, and he described a zero-tolerance policy for future activity. He added that any ship or boat placing new mines would be immediately and systematically destroyed.
FXStreet also noted that the US dollar was firmer versus major currencies amid a cautious market mood as investors assessed developments in the Middle East and ongoing sanctions discussions tied to Iran. The outlet said the US dollar’s strength was the result of shifting risk expectations rather than a specific domestic catalyst.
The same market snapshot reported that gold prices extended an intraday decline after earlier hitting a fresh three-month high during the day. It also said Bitcoin was trading above $80,000, reflecting a risk-on shift in investor sentiment.
