Brian Botkin promoted to International Chief Underwriting Officer at MS&AD
Botkin has led MSIG USA’s Chief Underwriting Officer role since July 2024, focusing on enterprise underwriting strategy and increased use of data and analytics.
MSIG USA has promoted Brian Botkin to International Chief Underwriting Officer for MS&AD Insurance Group, according to Reinsurance News. The company said Botkin has served as MSIG USA’s Chief Underwriting Officer since July 2024.
In his prior role, Botkin led enterprise underwriting strategy and helped advance what MSIG USA described as greater consistency, discipline, and portfolio insight across the organization. The insurer also said he worked with business leaders to align underwriting strategy with MSIG USA’s growth objectives and to expand the use of data and analytics in underwriting decisions.
As International CUO, Botkin will apply that experience across MS&AD’s global operations, supporting underwriting strategy, governance, and portfolio management across markets, the outlet reported. The promotion is also framed as part of MS&AD’s effort to expand its international specialty capabilities and connect underwriting expertise across its global businesses.
Reinsurance News added that MSIG USA CEO Peter McKenna called the promotion recognition of Botkin’s leadership and impact, citing his role in advancing the underwriting organization as the company grew. The outlet also said Group Chief Global Officer Hironori Morimoto noted Botkin’s experience in specialty underwriting and operating in one of the world’s most dynamic insurance markets.
