Hong Kong Student of the Year Awards adds AI literacy category
The program said it received a record-breaking 900-plus nominations from 181 schools for the 45th anniversary.
The South China Morning Posts Student of the Year Awards, celebrating its 45th anniversary, announced new initiatives including a planned AI literacy award category aimed at promoting responsible AI use from students, and it also said it will expand the Student of the Year brand beyond Hong Kong, SCMP Economy reported.
The awards programme, solely sponsored by The Hong Kong Jockey Club with support from the Education Bureau, reached a milestone by receiving a record-breaking 900-plus nominations from 181 schools.
A July 11 ceremony at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre honored 40 students across 10 award categories, with more than 300 guests including leaders from professional associations, community organisations, and schools, according to SCMP Economy.
The Hong Kong Jockey Club CEO Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges said the club has donated more than HK$16 billion to youth initiatives over the past decade, and framed leadership as extending beyond academic achievement.
