Inszone buys Hometown Insurance Center to expand Oregon specialty lines

The acquisition adds a logging, forestry, trucking, and contracting book, a niche that often requires carriers with specialized underwriting experience.

Inszone Insurance Services has acquired Hometown Insurance Center, a Canyonville, Oregon agency with more than 70 years of history writing logging, forestry, trucking, and contracting risks in Douglas County, financial terms not disclosed. The deal extends Inszone's commercial lines footprint in Oregon and brings a specialty-focused book that many standard carriers are reluctant to write.

Coverage for the industries Hometown serves typically spans inland marine, loggers broad form liability, commercial auto, and workers' compensation, lines that require carriers with specific underwriting experience. The story notes that logging workers recorded 110.4 deaths per 100,000 full-time equivalent workers in 2024, far above the US Bureau of Labor Statistics national all-worker rate.

Hometown Insurance Center, operating today as M&B Gross, LLC, was founded in 1953. Brandi Gross joined the agency nearly 30 years ago, became owner in 2017, and said the sale decision was driven by succession and staff protection, with Inszone laying out a transition plan for retirement.

Inszone says the Hometown team will keep serving existing clients while integrating into Inszone systems, and that clients will gain access to a broader carrier network and back-office resources. The acquisition comes as North American agency deal activity contracts, with deals falling to 292 in the first half of 2026, down 15% year over year, according to OPTIS Partners.
