Soybeans fall as cash price drops and exports rise
The US soybean export pace totaled 420,895 MT for the week ending August 20, up 43% from the prior week, while 2025/26 marketing-year exports lag last year by 17.9%.
Soybeans were weaker on Monday, trading 12 to 15 cents lower across most contracts, with the cmdtyView national average cash bean price down 13.8 cents to $11.88.
Soymeal futures rose by $4.70 on the day, while soy oil fell back by 263 to 268 points.
USDA’s FGIS reported soybean export shipments of 420,895 MT (15.465 mbu) for the week ending August 20, up 43% from the previous week and 6.9% larger than the same week last year. Egypt was the top destination at 116,966 MT, with 71,630 MT shipped to Indonesia and 60,643 MT to Italy.
For the 2025/26 marketing year, exports are running at 40.48 MMT (1.487 bbu), which is 17.9% below the same period last year. Pro Farmer estimated the US national yield at 53.3 pba, with production at 4.572 bbu, and CFTC data showed managed money added 50,300 contracts to its net long position in the week ending August 18, bringing the net long to 151,662 contracts.
