Superior Ag opens 32,000-ton fertilizer terminal on the Ohio River
The new Rockport, Indiana facility is designed to improve unloading, storage, and handling, boosting fertilizer availability during peak application windows for regional farmers.
Superior Ag has officially opened a new 32,000-ton fertilizer Ohio River Terminal in Rockport, Indiana, adding direct river access for the cooperative’s southwest Indiana, northern Kentucky, and surrounding service area.
The cooperative said the terminal, located in southern Spencer County, is built to help it efficiently receive, store, and distribute crop nutrients. Superior Ag added that upgraded unloading, storage, and handling capabilities are intended to improve operational efficiency and increase fertilizer availability during critical application windows.
Superior Ag also described the facility as strengthening supply chain reliability and positioning the cooperative for future growth. World Grain reports that the Aug. 25 ribbon-cutting included remarks from Superior Ag leadership, board members, and local officials, followed by tours and an open house.
In comments carried by World Grain, Superior Ag’s president and chief executive officer, Richard Lloyd, characterized the terminal as an investment in the future of agriculture across the region, citing improved access to crop nutrients for the cooperative’s members and customers.
