Vienna Insurance Group reported a 20.7% rise in result before taxes to EUR 641.5 million for the first half of 2026, driven mainly by stronger total capital investment performance and an improved net combined ratio, Reinsurance News said. All segments generated positive results before taxes, with the biggest percentage increase in Extended CEE at 98.0%, followed by Special Markets up 35.4%, and Austria up 11.2%. The insurer said insurance service revenue climbed 7.1% to EUR 6.8 billion, supported by life insurance without profit participation rising 18.2%, unit and index-linked life insurance up 10.7%, and health insurance increasing 8.8%.

Premium growth was led by Poland at 8.3%, Czechia at 8.1%, and Extended CEE at 6.4%, while Austria contributed a 3.6% premium increase.

The insurer reported that its net combined ratio for H1 2026 improved to 91.4%, a 0.5 percentage point improvement from 91.9% in H1 2025, attributing the change to lower claims. Contractual service margin totaled EUR 6.3 billion as of June 30, 2026, up 1.4% year over year, and the company said its total investment portfolio rose 4.1% to EUR 49.1 billion, supported by higher fair value investment measurements and new investments.
