CZ says bitcoin could overtake gold in the next bull market
Zhao pointed to a more than 25% weekly bitcoin rally, alongside gold moving above $4,600, as he argued reserve allocation systems could eventually shift toward digital assets.
Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao said bitcoin could surpass gold in importance in the next bull market cycle, arguing that countries would eventually tilt sovereign reserve allocations toward digital assets rather than rely solely on gold, according to The Block. Zhao said gold’s market capitalization is still about 10 times larger than bitcoin’s and that the move would not happen overnight because many countries have built valuation, reserve, and trading systems around gold. He added that bitcoin could represent more than 50% of strategic crypto holdings, alongside assets like Ethereum and BNB, per The Block. His comments came as bitcoin rebounded sharply, with BTC gaining more than 25% last week while gold climbed above $4,600, Decrypt reported. The Block also said BTC traded around $79,700 on Thursday and was up 1.5% over 24 hours. Zhao further linked crypto and artificial intelligence integration to stablecoins as a first step, saying AI-assisted trading is likely to arrive before AI-driven payments.
