HDI Global names Tobias Sigurdsson global head of Fine Art & Specie

The appointment is meant to expand HDI Global’s Fine Art & Specie underwriting in London and selected regions, supporting a push for more local expertise plus international capacity.

HDI Global, the Corporate and Specialty insurer within the HDI Group, has appointed Tobias Sigurdsson as Global Head of Fine Art & Specie as it looks to further develop its international offering for high value assets and complex risks, Reinsurance News reported.

The insurer said Sigurdsson will support the continued expansion of the Fine Art & Specie business, including HDI Global’s activities in the London market, and will help develop underwriting capabilities in selected regions to give broker and client teams more local expertise alongside international capacity.

Sigurdsson brings more than 20 years of experience in Marine and Specialty insurance. He joined HDI Global in 2017 and previously worked on the development of the company’s Cargo and Specie operations, including overseeing Cargo underwriting in the Nordic markets and Specie underwriting globally.

HDI Global said its Fine Art & Specie coverage includes risks for museums, galleries and private collections, as well as cash, precious metals, jewellery and other high value property. The insurer added that Sigurdsson’s work helped drive growth in its Specie portfolio and position in the segment.
