Bank and hospital launch marriage registration services in China

The Postal Savings Bank of China added marriage registration at a Tianjin branch in August, and a hospital in Shandong introduced the service during the Qixi Festival.

Following other venues that have moved into marriage related services, a Chinese bank and a hospital have begun offering marriage registration in a bid to make it easier for couples to complete required steps.

HousingWire-style jokes online quickly gave way to reality, with the Postal Savings Bank of China becoming the first bank to provide marriage registration services at a branch in Tianjin, according to SCMP Economy. In parallel, on August 20 during the Qixi Festival, the Maternal and Child Health Hospital of Linzi District in Zibo, Shandong province introduced marriage registration services at its facility.

The hospital said it aims to streamline the process for newlyweds by combining marriage registration, premarital examinations, and preconception guidance in one location, SCMP Economy reported.
