Corgi expands from commercial coverage into life and health insurance

The startup is hiring a Life and Health Actuary and plans products ranging from group life to critical illness and dental and vision.

Corgi, a San Francisco-based insurer founded in 2024, is expanding beyond property and casualty coverage into life and health insurance products, according to job postings and company background summarized by Coverager.

The insurer is hiring a Life and Health Actuary to build its actuarial function across employee benefits and supplemental insurance, including pricing, reserving, valuation, product development, regulatory filings, reinsurance and actuarial opinions.

Potential products mentioned include group life, accidental death and dismemberment, disability, accident, hospital indemnity, specified disease, critical illness, and dental and vision coverage.

Corgi currently focuses on commercial insurance for startups and has also moved into trucking coverage through a program with Trucker Path Insurance that targets small fleets, offering lines such as auto liability, motor truck cargo, physical damage and general liability, with Trucker Path Insurance serving as agent of record.
