Market caps of seven top-10 Indian firms drop by about ₹1.13 lakh crore
Bharti Airtel and Reliance Industries posted the biggest valuation losses, each down about ₹40,000 crore amid a three-week stretch of pressure on Sensex and Nifty.
LiveMint Markets reported that the combined market capitalisation of seven of India’s top 10 most-valued companies fell by around ₹1.13 lakh crore last week.
The BSE benchmark Sensex declined 276.32 points, or 0.35%, over the week, while the NSE Nifty fell 76.35 points, or 0.31%.
The outlet cited concerns about global interest rates, geopolitical developments, and volatility tied to India’s new closing auction session as weighing on investor sentiment, even as markets recovered on Friday on buying in IT stocks.
Among the biggest laggards, Bharti Airtel’s valuation dropped by ₹40,500.85 crore to ₹11,74,462.30 crore, and Reliance Industries fell by ₹40,056.32 crore to ₹17,38,119.27 crore, while gainers included TCS, ICICI Bank, and State Bank of India.
