Aon confirms planned acquisition of USI Insurance Services

The reported $17 billion deal includes debt, and USI brings about $3 billion in annual revenue with roughly 10,500 employees across nearly 200 US offices.

Aon has confirmed a planned acquisition of USI Insurance Services, with the deal value reported by the Wall Street Journal at about $17 billion. The company said it is near finalizing the transaction, with an announcement expected as soon as the same day.

The reported purchase price would include debt, according to the report. USI’s ownership includes KKR, which had bought USI in 2017, and is looking to sell out of its holding, the story says.

USI, founded in 1994, has grown to generate around $3 billion in annual revenue, with more than 10,500 employees across nearly 200 offices in the United States. The firm focuses on property and casualty insurance, employee and wholesale benefits, retirement consulting, and personal lines for higher net worth clients.

The acquisition would also create what the report describes as meaningful crossover and synergies with Aon’s existing footprint in insurance broking and consulting. Aon recently expanded through its 2024 purchase of NFP for a reported $13 billion, and the story notes that Aon integrated NFP after completing the deal.
