Apple CEO Tim Cook to step down on Sept. 1, 2026
Cook will transition to executive chairman, with John Ternus succeeding him as CEO.
Tim Cook will step down as Apple’s chief executive on September 1, 2026, transitioning to the role of executive chairman, according to LiveMint Markets. The change comes after Cook’s 15-year tenure as CEO and follows a succession plan the company said was part of its long-term planning process.
John Ternus will take over as Apple’s next CEO, succeeding Cook as the company’s board unanimously approved the leadership transition earlier this year, the report said.
LiveMint Markets adds that Cook’s leadership period included the launch of new product and service categories, including the Apple Watch, AirPods, and Apple Vision Pro. The same source says Apple nearly quadrupled revenue from $108 billion in fiscal 2011 to more than $416 billion in fiscal 2025 during Cook’s time in the role.
The outlet also notes that Apple expanded its global retail footprint to more than 500 stores and grew its active installed base to more than 2.5 billion devices, alongside adding more than 100,000 team members.
