SpaceX plans $100 billion Starship complex in Louisiana
The project would cover 125,000 acres, with construction starting in 2027 and an initial launch targeted for 2029.
SpaceX is planning a $100 billion Starship complex in Louisiana as part of its effort to support continued capital spending, according to Yahoo Finance.
The planned site is expected to be spread over 125,000 acres near Pecan Island and would include five launch complexes, each with two pads, plus infrastructure for propellant manufacturing, power generation, vehicle processing, and employee housing.
Construction is set to begin in 2027, with the first launch targeted for 2029, and management expects the buildout to create between 3,000 and 10,000 jobs.
Yahoo Finance also notes that the Pecan Island location would support SpaceX plans for a large constellation of up to one million solar-powered AI data-processing satellites by enabling launches into sun-synchronous orbits without flying over populated areas, and it highlights nearby access to natural gas infrastructure and coastal water routes for transporting rocket stages.
