Aegon leases 20,600 SF at 125 West 57th Street in Manhattan

The Netherlands-based insurer will take two floors in the newly completed tower, with the transition to be finished by Jan. 1, 2028.

Aegon, the Netherlands-founded financial services firm known for life insurance, pensions, and retirement plans, is relocating its headquarters to New York City. The company has signed a 20,600-square-foot lease at 125 West 57th Street in Manhattan’s Plaza District, taking two floors in the recently completed, 30-story office building, Commercial Observer reports.

The landlords said neither the asking rent nor the lease length were disclosed. The article notes that the average asking rent for Class A office space in the Plaza District was $97.23 per square foot during the second quarter of 2026, citing research from Colliers.

The move is part of Aegon’s broader plan to shift its head office and legal operations from the Netherlands to the U.S. Once the transaction is completed, Aegon plans to rename the company Transamerica, with the transition scheduled to be finished by Jan. 1, 2028.

According to the article, Aegon announced its plan to move to the U.S. in June. It also says Will Fuller, the firm’s current CEO of Aegon Americas, will be appointed president and chief operating of the renamed company, when the transition concludes.
