Glendale OKs rezoning for sports and events complex by Cardinals stadium

The 106-acre parcel will support the West Valley Events Complex, with a conditional use permit set to run for eight years.

Glendale, Arizona, has approved rezoning for a new sports and events complex near State Farm Stadium, according to the Phoenix Business Journal as cited by Bisnow.

The project would use a 106-acre site across from the Arizona Cardinals stadium and near the Desert Diamond sports and entertainment venue, with the Emil Rovey family owning the land parcel and nearby acreage, the outlet said.

Glendale’s planning and zoning commission approved a conditional use permit on Aug. 27, and the permit is expected to last for eight years.

The West Valley Events Complex is planned to include 15 fields for soccer, football and rugby, along with space for concerts and festivals, Bisnow reported, noting a separate 40-acre entertainment-focused parcel was approved last year.
