MediaTek shares jump after $3.5 billion Nvidia AI chip deal

The companies will integrate Nvidia technology not only into MediaTek's custom AI chip efforts, but also into products for PCs and cars.

MediaTek shares rose about 10% after the company agreed to a $3.5 billion deal involving Nvidia AI chips, CNBC Markets reported.

Under the agreement, MediaTek and Nvidia said they will work on integrating Nvidia technology with MediaTek's custom AI chip business, as well as other areas that include PCs and cars.

CNBC World reported the same cooperation terms, framing the partnership as extending Nvidia's AI chip capabilities across MediaTek's broader end markets.
