Ukrainian drones ignite fire at Russia’s Ust-Luga oil export terminal
Russia said it shot down 52 drones overnight, and authorities are assessing damage to the key Baltic export port after a fire was extinguished with no casualties reported.
A major Ukrainian drone attack struck Russia’s Ust-Luga oil export terminal in the Baltic Sea, triggering a fire at the facility, according to OilPrice. Leningrad region governor Alexander Drozdenko said on Telegram that the port sustained damage and that the fire was later extinguished, with no casualties reported. Regional authorities are assessing damages following the overnight attack.
OilPrice said Ust-Luga is the top Russian port for exports from the Baltic Sea area, loading crude oil, fuels, coal, fertilizers, and grain. The outlet also said the port has been targeted multiple times by Ukraine since the war began in 2022.
According to OilPrice, some past attacks at Ust-Luga have halted shipments and loadings of commodities, and Russia’s overnight response included shooting down 52 drones. The latest incident adds to Ukraine’s broader push to disrupt Russia’s refinery capacity and energy export revenues by hitting export infrastructure.
