IRGC claims two more oil tankers were disabled in the Strait of Hormuz

Brent crude was around $94.9 and WTI about $90.2, with both contracts up roughly 7.0% to 8.0% on the week amid supply disruption fears.

Forexlive reports Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is claiming that two additional oil tankers were brought to a halt after striking mines in the Strait of Hormuz, warning there is no safe passage through the strait at this time.

The outlet said Iran’s position is aimed at escalating tensions and that prolonged disruption could damage energy markets and disrupt supply chains, with implications for inflation expectations.

Forexlive also pointed to market pricing, noting Brent crude around $94.9 and WTI crude near $90.2, while both were little changed on the day but up about 7.0% and 8.0% respectively on the week.

The report added that the latest shipping claims come as bond yields are rising globally, a backdrop it linked to a broader shift in market conditions.
