Rocket Money rolls out AI assistant Rowan to manage subscriptions

The assistant is initially available to select users on Rocket Money’s Premium Plus tier, where it can negotiate recurring expenses and cancel services via text instructions.

Rocket Money, formerly Truebill and acquired by Rocket Companies in 2021, has launched Rowan, an AI financial assistant built with Anthropic that monitors subscribers’ finances and can take actions based on user instructions sent by text message, Coverager reports.

Rowan is designed to spot unused subscriptions and rising bills, negotiate recurring expenses, cancel services, and set up automated savings transfers. Rocket Money says it can handle tasks like canceling a free streaming trial before it converts to a paid plan and moving the difference from “round up” purchases to a high-yield savings account.

Rocket Money says Rowan combines adaptable AI agents with rule-based code and human verification. It is also intended to learn from unusual workflows, such as nonstandard subscription-cancellation processes, and apply those solutions across the platform.

Aaron Dignan, VP of Agentic Products at Rocket Money, said the company built Rowan to move beyond identifying missed savings and instead take action on things like forgotten subscriptions and bills that increase over time.
