Russia says refinery restart will restore oil output after maintenance
Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said fuel supply has improved this week, even as refinery outages tied to Ukrainian drone strikes have squeezed Russia's gasoline and diesel markets.
OilPrice reports that Russia’s deputy prime minister, Alexander Novak, said a drop in Russian oil production is temporary and should ease once refineries restart after unscheduled maintenance. He said output is expected to rise again as refinery operations resume and conditions stabilize, according to comments carried by TASS.
The outlet adds that Novak spoke at an economic forum in Vladivostok on Thursday, amid Russia’s ongoing fuel crisis. Russian authorities have repeatedly pointed to improving supply and a return to normal refinery operations after disruptions.
OilPrice notes that refinery output has been heavily disrupted by recurrent Ukrainian drone attacks, which have targeted refining capacity and related export infrastructure. Russia has also banned diesel exports, a measure currently enforceable until the end of September, contributing to tighter global middle distillate markets.
