Walter Global Asset Management invests in Equisoft to support expansion

The deal marks Equisoft’s 16th investment, with the firm serving more than 325 financial institutions and employing over 850 people across six continents.

Walter Global Asset Management has invested in EquiSoft, a Montreal-based provider of technology for insurers, wealth managers, banks, pension funds, and asset managers, with the investment intended to back EquiSoft’s international expansion, according to Coverager.

Financial terms were not disclosed. EquiSoft, founded in 1994, offers front-end applications, back-office and retirement systems, and data-migration services, and works with more than 325 financial institutions.

The company employs more than 850 people across six continents, with more than 40% of revenue coming from outside Canada and the US. Coverager also noted that EquiSoft rolled out secure, enterprise-wide access to models across its global workforce.

Walter GAM, launched in 2019, invests in asset managers, wealth management firms, and tech-enabled financial services companies, and this investment is its 16th. EquiSoft founder and CEO Luis Romero said the firm sought an agile partner aligned with its values and committed for the long term.
