CPKC sets August monthly records for Canadian grain shipments

The railroad moved 2.54 million tonnes and 26,051 carloads in August, part of the 2026-27 crop year, which began Aug. 1, 2026.

Canadian Pacific Kansas City said it set new August monthly records by moving 2.54 million tonnes and 26,051 carloads of Canadian grain and grain products as the 2026-27 crop year started on Aug. 1, 2026, according to World Grain.

The August monthly record covers the first four weeks of the 2026-27 crop year. The previous August high was set in August 2020, when the railroad moved 2.43 million tonnes and 24,711 carloads, and CPKC also reported that it finished the 2025-26 crop year with a new annual record of 30.66 million tonnes.

CPKC said its July release of a “2026-2027 Grain Service Outlook Report” outlines its plans for providing safe and reliable service to Canadian grain customers during the 2026-27 crop year.

World Grain also noted CPKC will operate a new context for grain processing coverage, including that Green Acres Milling is set to begin operating an oat mill with production capacity of 39,420 tonnes, or 869,062 cwts, of finished oat products per year.
