Russia says it will keep supplying oil to India despite tariff threat
A U.S. measure that would authorize 100% tariffs on top Russian oil and gas buyers passed the Senate 86-11 but faces House deadlock ahead of November midterms.
Russia’s ambassador to India, Denis Alipov, said in an interview with Asian News International that Russia will remain a key crude oil supplier to India, even as the United States considers new legislation targeting Russian oil imports.
Alipov criticized the planned U.S. tariff bill and argued that excluding Russian crude would not be workable for global energy supply, while saying Russia is ready to provide as much oil as India needs.
The article notes Russia has become India’s single biggest oil supplier in recent years after the U.S., the UK, and the EU banned Russian oil imports and shifted to tighter sanction pressure following the invasion of Ukraine.
