Brent rises above $99 after confirmed Houthi attack on Saudi Arabia
Brent’s move is being tied to both the reported southern Saudi strikes and a more specific Iranian Gulf exclusion-zone proposal, with $104.23 flagged as the next key level to confirm the shift.
Brent crude pushed above $99 after a confirmed Houthi attack on southern Saudi Arabia, a move that Action Forex said adds more concrete support than some prior war-driven spikes during the past six months of Middle East tensions. The report linked the immediate catalyst to an attack that wounded more than 73 people across four cities and triggered fires at some energy facilities.
The development also broadens the perceived physical supply risk, with Action Forex describing it as opening a more active Saudi front alongside existing disruption concerns around the Strait of Hormuz and the Iran-US confrontation. At the same time, Iran’s threat of a Gulf exclusion zone has become more specific, with a proposal described as starting where a US blockade of Iran starts and extending into Gulf waters, and vessels entering the area potentially being placed on an Iranian sanctions list.
While maps and full implementation details have not been released, Action Forex said the combination of the Saudi strikes and the stated mechanism for the exclusion zone helps explain why the latest move may have more substance than reactions to less defined escalation.
The report framed the next question as whether price can confirm a distinct shift, pointing to $102.00 as an initial test and $104.23 as a more important confirmation level where both fundamental and technical factors face their “real confirmation” check.
