Chris Rokos prepares to move residency from the UK to Greece

Rokos paid an estimated £330 million in UK tax in 2025, and the move includes plans to open an Athens office and pursue Greece’s high net worth investor tax regime.

Chris Rokos, founder of Rokos Capital Management, is poised to leave the UK and move his residency to Greece, according to Bloomberg, as more wealthy individuals exit amid concerns about higher taxes in Britain.

Rokos was ranked third on the Sunday Times list of the UK’s top taxpayers, with an estimated tax bill of £330 million in 2025. His net worth is about $4 billion, and this year he made a record £190 million donation to the University of Cambridge to fund the creation of the Rokos School of Government.

As part of the relocation, Rokos plans to open an office in Athens. The report says Greece offers a 15 year high net worth investor regime that requires at least €500,000 of investment in Greek real estate, businesses, or shares within three years, with a flat €100,000 per year tax on income earned abroad.

Rokos’s exit follows other high profile departures by billionaires from the UK that have been linked to the abolition of the non dom regime and higher tax on areas including private equity investments, inheritance, and capital gains, the outlet notes.
