Markel launches travel reimbursement enhancement for rare-disease trials
The coverage reimburses trial sponsors for eligible international travel expenses tied to registered participants, with 24-hour medical assistance and care coordination for eligible, medically cleared travelers.
Markel International has launched a travel reimbursement enhancement aimed at life sciences companies and other sponsors running rare-disease clinical trials, designed to fill gaps left by traditional travel insurance.
The product reimburses trial sponsors for eligible expenses related to international travel by registered participants to and from clinical trial sites, with payments made to the sponsor rather than directly to participants.
Eligible participants who are medically cleared to travel can access 24-hour medical assistance and care coordination from Healix.
Policies are available through brokers, distributed by PGI Canada, and offered on a claims-made basis through the PGicover platform.
