Blackstone real estate head Nadeem Meghji to depart after nearly two decades
The firm is elevating David Levine and Giovanni Cutaia to co-lead global real estate after the exit.
Blackstone Global Head of Real Estate Nadeem Meghji is reportedly set to leave the firm after nearly two decades, according to the Wall Street Journal. Meghji joined Blackstone in 2008 and has been the company’s sole real estate head for just under a year.
The departure is said to be for personal reasons, including wanting to spend more time with family, people familiar with the situation told the WSJ. In the wake of the change, Blackstone is elevating David Levine, co-head of the real estate group in the Americas, and Giovanni Cutaia, president of the real estate business, to co-lead the unit.
Blackstone President Jonathan Gray told the outlet that the business will continue with “tremendous talent,” pointing to Levine and Cutaia as examples. The WSJ also reported that roughly a dozen senior managing directors have exited Blackstone’s real estate group in recent years.
During his tenure, Meghji helped lead Blackstone’s major data center investment. In a 2024 interview highlighted by Bisnow, he said the data center opportunity is “immense,” and he previously cited $140B in data centers globally by early 2026, with similar development potential, while valuing the firm’s global real estate portfolio at $608B and noting it employs just under 800 real estate professionals worldwide.
