Nadeem Meghji leaves Blackstone less than a year after leading real estate

Blackstone elevated David Levine and Giovanni Cutaia to take over Meghji’s real estate leadership role.

Nadeem Meghji is departing Blackstone less than a year after being named the sole global head of real estate, Commercial Observer reports. The change follows the earlier departure of other executives, including Kathleen McCarthy, who until November had served as global co-head of real estate alongside Meghji. David Levine, who co-heads real estate in the Americas, and Giovanni Cutaia, president of Blackstone’s real estate business, have been elevated to fill Meghji’s role, the outlet says. Blackstone President Jonathan Gray told the Wall Street Journal that the firm expects continuity despite Meghji’s exit, and highlighted Levine and Cutaia as examples of the talent in the organization. Meghji joined Blackstone in 2008 during the Great Recession, and Commercial Observer reports he is stepping away to focus on family. During his nearly two decades at the firm, Meghji had a role in expanding Blackstone’s data center strategy, which reached a $185 billion value as of July 2026. Over the same period, Blackstone reported 20 percent year-over-year growth across total revenues, fee revenues, fee-related earnings, net realization, and distributable earnings, according to Commercial Observer.
