Ukraine drone strike hits fuel terminal at Russia’s Novorossiysk port

The attack reportedly started a fire at the port’s fuel oil terminal and follows Ukraine strikes that have at times forced temporary suspension of oil loadings at Novorossiysk and the nearby Caspian Pipeline Consortium export terminal.

Ukraine launched drone attacks on infrastructure in Novorossiysk, Russia’s key Black Sea oil terminal, killing four people and damaging civil infrastructure, according to OilPrice.

The outlet reported that the overnight strikes hit buildings in and near the city, and Ukrainian media said the attacks sparked a fire at a fuel oil terminal at the port.

OilPrice also said Ukraine has targeted Novorossiysk multiple times over the past year to reduce Russia’s oil exports and revenues.

Some earlier attacks caused damage that required temporary suspension of oil loadings at Novorossiysk and the nearby export terminal of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium, which ships more than 80% of Kazakhstan’s crude exports through a 1,500 kilometer route to the Black Sea.
