CMLS appoints Cameron Kinzer as director of advocacy
The newly created role will focus on federal and state engagement on AI, privacy, antitrust, and brokerage compensation as MLSs face increased scrutiny.
Council of Multiple Listing Services (CMLS) has appointed Cameron Kinzer as director of advocacy, a newly created position aimed at expanding the organization’s government relations and public policy work, according to a Thursday announcement.
In the role, Kinzer will lead CMLS’s advocacy strategy and engage with lawmakers, regulators, and industry partners nationwide. His remit includes issues such as data access, artificial intelligence, privacy, antitrust, and brokerage compensation.
CMLS said the policy engagement priority reflects heightened legislative, regulatory, and legal scrutiny confronting MLSs, along with ongoing litigation and regulatory attention. The organization added that Kinzer will work closely with CMLS CEO Jessica Edgerton, the board, and members to monitor policy developments affecting MLSs at the federal, state, and local levels.
Edgerton said CMLS wants a strong, informed voice in policy conversations at every level, and she highlighted Kinzer’s experience in advocacy and organized real estate. Kinzer previously served as chief advocacy and public affairs officer at Boise Regional Realtors, directing government affairs and political engagement across southwestern Idaho and eastern Oregon.
