Ryanair disputes passenger claim after in-flight window incident

Ryanair said it will await findings from a U.S. investigation led by the NTSB before addressing whether any part of the passenger went outside the aircraft window.

Ryanair said it will dispute a passenger’s claim that a businessman’s body was sucked out of a broken aircraft window during an in-flight incident in July.

According to The Guardian, the airline’s chief executive, Michael O’Leary, told reporters after Ryanair’s annual general meeting in Dublin that the passenger was “sucked towards the window” but did not get out of it, and that the company does not think any part of his body exited the opening.

The article says U.S. investigators are examining the incident that left Ljubisa Karović, 61, severely injured on a Ryanair flight from Greece to Germany, with the National Transportation Safety Board leading the investigation alongside Boeing, engine manufacturer GE, and Ryanair.

Ryanair also said the passenger had been belted into the seat, while the passenger’s lawyer previously argued he was hauled back in after his head and right arm were pulled through the window due to sudden depressurisation, the article adds.
