XRPL tops 5 billion transactions as activity concentrates in bots

In August, Bitquery found 767 machine accounts generated 92% of XRPL transactions, while most sent only one or a few transactions, separating throughput from economic execution.

The XRP Ledger has surpassed 5 billion validated transactions, but new analysis shows that monthly activity is increasingly concentrated among a small set of accounts, rather than spread across many participants, according to CryptoSlate citing Bitquery data.

Bitquery found that in August, 793 sender accounts generated 75.98 million of XRPL’s 81.56 million transactions, representing 93.2% of the month’s activity. Of those sender accounts, 767 were classified as machines, responsible for 92% of all transactions, while 26 exchange hot wallets accounted for 1.1%.

The data also highlights a gap between raw network throughput and trade settlement. Evernorth Research reported that XRPL order book trading volume rose 79% year over year in the second quarter, even as the number of accounts initiating those trades fell about 40%. Evernorth cautioned that some of the shift could reflect professional traders taking a larger share of flow, complicating how much the milestone signals durable XRP demand.

At the account level, Bitquery identified an address that generated almost 13 million transactions in August, including 12.79 million decentralized exchange orders, but only 882 of those orders resulted in trades. Across the built-in exchange, Bitquery counted 2.97 million settled trades from 12,153 accounts in August, compared with more than 81 million total transactions, underscoring that automation drove much of the traffic while fewer actions translated into executed trades.
