Indian shares rise as crude eases and Middle East risk stays in focus
Nifty 50 closed up 0.5% at 23,446.8 and the Sensex gained 0.4% to 74,828.25 as Brent stayed below $100 a barrel.
Indian benchmark indices rose on Wednesday, September 22, supported by a decline in crude oil prices and easing concerns about the impact of higher energy costs on the domestic economy, LiveMint Markets reported. Gains were capped by ongoing uncertainty around the Middle East conflict and related escalation risks tied to the US-Iran situation.
The report said Brent crude remained below the $100-a-barrel level, aided by restored supplies through a key Saudi Arabian pipeline in the Red Sea region. It also noted that US President Donald Trump warned of further military action against Iran while indicating discussions involving Iranian mediators had been productive, keeping investors cautious.
On the market day, the Nifty 50 rose 0.5% to 23,446.80 and the BSE Sensex gained 0.4% to 74,828.25. Ahead of the closing auction, the indices were up 0.44% and 0.36%, respectively, the outlet said.
The article also highlighted stock-specific trading ideas, citing a breakout in healthcare technology firm IKS and a move in PB Fintech, while pointing to investors watching crude as a key driver. It described IKS as sitting near the ₹1,950 to ₹1,960 hurdle range, with expanded volume during the upside breakout and positive momentum signals.
