JLL markets Rubin Museum flagship for sale in Manhattan
The 80,000-square-foot mixed-use site includes a six-story former museum space plus an adjacent residential component with 46 apartments.
JLL has been retained by the Rubin Museum of Himalayan Art to market the museum’s New York City flagship location for sale, according to ConnectCRE.
The property is at 140–154 W. 17th St. in Chelsea and spans about 80,000 square feet, with a six-story former museum building totaling roughly 52,000 square feet.
ConnectCRE says the site also includes an adjacent, contiguous residential component with 46 apartments, positioning it for potential mixed-use redevelopment.
JLL described the asset as historically and architecturally significant and said it could be adapted for cultural, educational, commercial or mixed-use uses, citing David Carlos, vice chairman and head of JLL’s Nonprofit, Education & Government Practice.
