Ryan Specialty appoints Heather Jamieson president of SSRU
Jamieson will succeed Stephen Stewart, while Stewart stays CEO of Ryan Specialty Canada through 2026 before handing the role to her starting Jan. 1, 2027.
Ryan Specialty has named Heather Jamieson as president of Stewart Specialty Risk Underwriting, effective immediately, succeeding Stephen Stewart, who founded SSRU in 2016, according to Insurance Business.
The outlet says Stewart will remain CEO of Ryan Specialty Canada through the end of 2026, with Jamieson taking over that role effective Jan. 1, 2027.
Insurance Business reports that Jamieson is not new to SSRU, having served as the firm’s senior vice president of property and worked alongside Stewart since 2019.
The appointment comes as Ryan Specialty consolidated multiple Canadian managing general underwriting businesses into Ryan Specialty Canada Limited, with the presidency positioning Jamieson to lead SSRU’s underwriting platform and oversee the broader consolidated operations when she becomes CEO in 2027.
