CFC adds affirmative AI coverage to intellectual property policies
The insurer said its standalone wording aims to reduce ambiguity while keeping core policy scope, covering AI-related IP claims that meet existing requirements.
CFC has launched affirmative AI coverage within its intellectual property policy, aiming to address uncertainties that can arise as businesses increasingly use AI to create, develop, and commercialize intellectual property. Insurance Journal said the company positioned the wording to remove ambiguity without changing the fundamental scope of the policy.
The insurer highlighted that disputes involving training data, ownership, infringement, liability, and AI-generated outputs can create complex exposure for policyholders across different jurisdictions. It said its approach provides confirmation that AI-related IP claims can remain covered where they otherwise meet coverage requirements.
Insurance Journal also reported that wholesale specialty distributor CRC Group launched Insurisk Cyber through its Insurisk platform. The new cyber and technology insurance solution combines cyber liability, technology E&O, and miscellaneous professional liability into a single streamlined policy form, with support that includes active threat monitoring and discounted rates on cyber risk management resources.
Insurisk Cyber is led by A- or better AM Best-rated paper, and the program is described as designed to cover a broad set of cyber and technology risks while maintaining disciplined underwriting standards.
