Solana Foundation adds Binance veteran and payments exec

The appointments come as Solana expands payments partnerships and targets faster transaction finality for its Alpenglow upgrade.

Solana Foundation has appointed Rachel Conlan, a former Binance chief marketing officer, as chief strategy officer, and named Jamal Raees, formerly of Polygon Labs, as general manager of payments, according to Cointelegraph.

Conlan will oversee strategy for institutional partnerships, ecosystem growth, and efforts to bring businesses onto Solana, while Raees will focus on the foundation’s work with major payments companies and on infrastructure used by teams building payment services on the network.

The management changes follow a wave of partnership announcements, including a collaboration with Modern Treasury that will make the fintech a payments infrastructure partner for the Foundation’s Solana Developer Platform, plus earlier deals with Amazon Web Services and expanded collaborations with Mastercard and Western Union.

Cointelegraph also notes Solana is preparing to deploy Alpenglow, an upgrade intended to reduce transaction finality from about 12.8 seconds to roughly 150 milliseconds, and that the network has processed more than $5 trillion in stablecoin volume in 2026, alongside more than $4.5 billion in real-world assets and over $620 million in tokenized equity supply.
