Xi urges US and China to keep AI under human control

The SCMP says Xi and Trump are set for formal talks following the AI remarks at the White House welcome.

At a White House welcome ahead of formal talks with President Donald Trump, Chinese President Xi Jinping said leaders in artificial intelligence share a responsibility to develop it for the public good and keep it under human control, according to SCMP Economy.

SCMP reports that Trump, in remarks during the welcome, praised the Flying Tigers, a US volunteer group formed in 1941 to help fight Japan’s invasion of China, and said both countries could achieve more by focusing on common interests.

Xi echoed the wartime theme, telling the audience that Chinese and Americans had fought shoulder to shoulder against fascist aggression during World War II, SCMP said.

The outlet also reported that Xi is scheduled to hold formal talks with Trump, with Melania Trump accompanying Peng Liyuan to the National Museum of Asian Art before the couples reunite for a state dinner.
