Dollar extends winning streak as Fed speakers draw focus

The dollar index rose to the 101.30 to 101.40 band, while EUR/USD slipped to around 1.1360 and USD/JPY neared 159.00.

HousingWire reports the US dollar extended gains for a fourth consecutive day on Thursday, returning toward levels last seen in late July as expectations for further Fed tightening stayed central and geopolitical uncertainty also weighed on risk appetite.

FXStreet says the US Dollar Index rose into the 101.30 to 101.40 range, near three month peaks, with a slate of upcoming data including Durable Goods Orders and final University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment readings, plus Fed speakers Williams, Schmid, and Hammack.

The outlet added that EUR/USD remained under pressure and fell back toward the 1.1360 zone, while GBP/USD dropped to fresh three month lows with a potential test of the 1.3200 area ahead.

FXStreet also noted USD/JPY advanced further and came just pips short of the 159.00 level, marking fresh three week highs, as Germany consumer confidence data and ECB monetary and lending figures were also due.
